Chapter 1 · 1.5
Quick search with Ctrl+K and Ctrl+J
DirectAdmin has two handy search functions, both in the bar below the menu. With one, you search for your own items, such as a domain or an e-mail address. With the other, you jump straight to a page in DirectAdmin.
Ctrl+K: search your domains, e-mail addresses, databases and FTP accounts
- Click in the search field Enter your search criteria... (1), or press Ctrl+K. On a Mac, that's Cmd+K.
- Type part of what you're looking for, for example a domain name or the start of an e-mail address.
- The results appear below the field (2). Each result shows where it's located, for example Account Manager > Domains > Modify Domain.
- Click on a result, or select it with the arrow keys and press Enter.

Above the results on the right (3) are filters showing the number of matches: Domains, Databases, E-mail accounts and FTP accounts. Click on one to see only that type. Press Esc to close the search results.
Ctrl+J: jump straight to a page
Not sure where something is in the menu? Use Search for pages, on the right of the same bar.
- Click on Search for pages, or press Ctrl+J (Mac: Cmd+J).
- Type part of the name, for example php, spam or password.
- Click on the page you're looking for. Each page shows which group of the menu it belongs to.

Tip: With Ctrl+J, search using part of the word, in the language DirectAdmin uses for it. Looking for the PHP version? Type php: you'll then see both PHP Settings and Select PHP version.
Shortcut not working?
- First click somewhere on an empty spot on the page, so that DirectAdmin receives the keystrokes, and try again.
- Some browsers or programs use the same shortcut for something else. In that case, simply click on the search field or on Search for pages.
